Reading Comfort Guide

Simple ways to make Ask Uncle G easier to read, print, and use on a phone.

Needing larger text or a slower pace is not weakness. Clear help should be easy to read.

This guide provides general comfort and reading tips only. It does not certify accessibility, replace device accessibility settings, assistive technology, or any professional or medical guidance.

When text feels too small

  • Open Display Settings and try Larger text or Extra-large text
  • Use your browser zoom — press Ctrl + Plus (Windows) or Cmd + Plus (Mac)
  • Rotate your phone to landscape view for wider reading
  • Print or copy important sections so you can read at your own pace
  • Use the Print Center to find what is safe to copy or print
  • Take one section at a time — no rush

When a page feels long

  • Start with the warning box at the top of any guide — it tells you if you need help now
  • Use the main section headings to jump to what you need
  • Use Copy or Print to save just the summary section
  • Try the Printable Starter Packs for a shorter, curated list of guides
  • Use the Help Finder to find the right guide without browsing
  • It is okay to stop and come back — guides are always here

When using Ask Uncle G in a store

  • Use Help Finder before you go to find the right guide quickly
  • Avoid entering private information on shared or public devices
  • Screenshots are for your personal reference only — Ask Uncle G stores nothing
  • Verify product labels and store guidance in person — do not rely solely on estimates
  • Do not rush safety decisions — no project is urgent enough to skip safety steps
  • Ask a store associate for help if you are unsure about a product

When helping a senior or family member

  • Read out loud at a calm, comfortable pace
  • Do not shame them for needing help or not knowing — everyone starts somewhere
  • Print only the sections that are useful and relevant to their situation
  • Keep medical, account, and financial information completely private
  • Use the Senior Support section for guides designed specifically for this situation
  • Call qualified professional help when needed — guides are for planning, not emergencies

What this guide does not do

  • ▸Not medical advice — for health concerns, contact a qualified medical professional
  • ▸Not an accessibility certification or WCAG compliance claim
  • ▸Not device repair or screen repair guidance
  • ▸Not a replacement for assistive technology
  • ▸Not legal compliance of any kind
