What this is about

When multiple checkboxes or radio buttons belong to the same question, users need a clear group label so they understand what the options relate to. This review checks whether Ask Uncle G's grouped choices have a visible question or introduction. Where possible, future implementation can use fieldset and legend HTML elements for true related groups — but this page is a practical review tool only and does not automatically modify every form.

What to Review

Checkbox groups have a visible group question

  • When multiple checkboxes belong to the same question, a heading or label introduces them
  • Safety First warning sign checkboxes are introduced by 'What signs are present?'
  • Checklist pages introduce each checklist with a clear title before the items
  • Multi-select situations clearly say 'select all that apply' or equivalent

Radio-style and selection groups are clearly introduced

  • When only one option should be chosen, the question is visible before the choices
  • Help Finder situation type selector is labeled 'What kind of help do you need?'
  • Dropdown fields are preceded by a visible text label
  • Group labels remain close to the options — not separated by unrelated content

Group labels remain visible on mobile

  • Group introduction text does not scroll off-screen before the options on mobile
  • On small screens, the group question stacks directly above the option items
  • Safety First checkboxes remain understandable when viewed on a phone
  • Group labels do not truncate or disappear on narrow screens

Options are understandable without extra context

  • Each option in a group makes sense when read on its own
  • Emergency/danger options include enough text to be understood without the icon
  • Safety and privacy groups do not rely on icons to communicate their meaning
  • Volunteer/church groups include boundary or limitation language when relevant

Privacy-sensitive groups warn what not to enter

  • Home Records organizer checkbox groups include a privacy reminder
  • Senior support option groups do not prompt for medication names or dosages
  • Any group near medical, financial, or personal data includes a plain-text privacy notice
  • The privacy notice appears before the group options — not only at the bottom

Emergency and safety groups say when to stop

  • When a safety group result indicates danger, the page says when to stop
  • Repair Simulator and Safety First results clearly say 'Stop. Call a professional.'
  • Emergency readiness groups reference calling emergency services in plain text
  • No safety group outcome relies on a colored result alone without text guidance

What this page does not claim

  • ✗No accessibility certification is granted
  • ✗No legal compliance approval is given
  • ✗No professional accessibility audit is performed
  • ✗No guarantee that every grouped form has been rebuilt with fieldset/legend
